At the Afrocentric clothing store where I worked, I overheard my coworker talking to a customer about the racial injustices suffered by Black people.

“They’re all a bunch of devils!” He said, and then looked at me, “No offense.”

He then turned back to the customer, “She’s half white,” he said, snidely, referring to the white guy that I happened to be dating at the time.
